Rifka-Rifka is a young Jewish girl from Russia. Unlike the rest of her family she has blond hair. She can pick up, and learn new languages very quickly. She loves to read her cousin's Puskin. She finds comfort in writing in the Puskin. She is shy and she feels she is not very smart, even though everyone tell her other wise.

Rifka's Mother and FatherRifka's Mother has long dark hair. She cooks and sews. Rifka thinks she is the best cook. She comforts Rifka when she is sad. She is the person Rifka misseed most of all while she was alone.
Rifka's Father makes the decisions in the family. He tries to keep the family together, but do the right thing for his family. |
Rifka's Brothers -Nathan and SaulSaul is Rifka's youngest brother. He is tall and has big ears and feet. Even though he annoys Rifka he is there for her when she needs him.
Rifka's brother Nathan is kind to Rifka and she looks up to him he cares for his family and wants to protect them. |
Rifka's Cousin- TovahTovah is the person Rifka is writing to all throughout the book. Rifka looks up to her and has a strong conection with her.
